We have thousands of experiences - with all kinds of machines and in most industrial sectors. Below we have summarized four of these projects, and the actual report detailing the progress of the work (in pdf form) can be seen by clicking on the link.

We would be glad to provide information about our work in your sector and with your type of machinery.

1. K-6510 Recycle Gas Compressor - Repair of damaged foundation, replacement of all anchor bolts, redesign of crosshead support base, and regrouting of all elements.

Shell petit before.jpgShell petit after.jpg

In 2005, we were contacted by this refinery. The original brief was to repair the foundation, remove the damaged grout/concrete, and replace the crankcase and crosshead support anchor bolts. However, after removal of the motor mounting slides, the anchor bolts were found to be badly corroded, and these were also cored out and replaced. Since there is the possibility that the crankcase may be replaced by a new or reconditioned unit in future, a soleplate installation was recommended, and designed. There was some confusion about the exact dimensions of the crosshead support, since the existing damaged support did not match up with the original drawings. Eventually a consensus was reached as to the probable correct dimensions, and the client accepted the fact that these were possibly not accurate, and that in-situ machining might be required when the repaired unit is returned.

2. Repair to the foundation of a gas compressor and its drive motor at a company in the Gas Supply sector.

enagas compressorIn 2000, we were contacted by the managers of a gasification plant in Spain to study the possible repairs to the foundation of a reciprocal compressor installed in 1972, almost thirty years earlier. Our discovery of significant corrosion led to a contract to repair the foundation, regrout, replace broken anchor bolts and realign the compressor during a scheduled maintenance period.

Our fourteen page report describes, and illustrates with fotos the progress of the work done, from beginning to end.

3. Foundation repairs for a diesel engine driving a 8320 KW alternator at a company in the Electrical Power Generation sector.

GESA generatorIn 2001, we were contacted by the general management of one of Spains' largest power generator companies. They were forced to run four of their thirty year old generators at reduced output because of the bad alignment caused by a deteriorating foundation.

4. Repair of the foundation for an aluminium can bodymaker.

CMB bodymaker 4Horizontal presses used for making aluminium cans for the beverage industry use large amounts of lubricating oil and have high dynamic forces, which, when combined with the small footings, create a potential for damage to the foundations and to the final product being manufactured. In this case all the anchor bolts had to be replaced because the foundation was damaged beyond repair, and the product reject rate had been rising for months prior to our project.
